I live in a modest home in a modest neighborhood, but there a few things about my home of which I am particularly proud.  After many years of trying to mow a wet patch of lawn I gave up and now have a “marsh garden.”

Standing in front of our personal marsh are The Bards of Balance that I introduced in the last entry.  From let to right stand me, Matt Papanek, Andrew Thomson and Alex Hotchkiss.  You can also see asters in the marsh and in the spring we have irises.  Cattails are threatened in this area because of an invasion of phragmites.  Perhaps my yard will be declared a critical habitat area someday.  Off to the right you see a house that is on the corner of a five way intersection.  The owner traditionally replaces his “lawn” with wildflowers.  The yellow you see is his lawn of sunflowers.
