I live on a small sloped lot near the village center.  All the kids in the neighborhood would slide down the hill between our house and the Colwell’s.  “Back in the day” it was mainly Flexible Flyers zipping down the yard.  If there was an ice storm or snowing too heavily for the town plows to keep up we would go down our yard onto Emerson Street and through the five-way intersection on down Shepard Road.

My son Noah substituted a snowboard for sleds.  We would build half-pipes and jumps if the snow was heavy enough.  Occasionally, we can still make the run all the way down Shephard Road.  Noah took the picture below of his old man on the neighborhood sled run.
